Ancient Woodland Restoration in Action

The Woodland Trust is running a practical demonstration of ancient woodland restoration at a plantation on ancient woodland site (PAWS) near Machynlleth. The event will showcase:

- Thinning and winch extraction in a stand of Japanese cedar
- Chainsaw mill demo, processing extracted Japanese cedar
- Workshop on lower plants and PAWS restoration
- Workshop on paleoecology and what we can learn about a site from peat core samples
